Pamela is the newest consultant to join the ARINGO family. Pamela has over 11 years of experience in graduate business school management. She most recently served as the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions at Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business where she was responsible for recruitment, admissions, and financial aid. She began her career in higher education in 2008 when she joined Portland State’s School of Business as the Director of Career Services and Corporate Outreach.
Here’s your chance to get to know her a little better.
Q: What’s a little known fact about you?
A: I am a first-generation college graduate. Applying to, and attending, a university when no one else in your family has ever done it can be overwhelming. I am so thankful for the degrees I have earned and the richness they bring to my personal and professional life.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to an MBA applicant, what would it be?
A: Be authentic. Trust me, Admissions Committees can tell if an applicant is just writing what they think committees want to hear. You are applying to a top school because you have overcome challenges, worked hard, and reached goals. Tell that story!
Q: What is your favorite part about working with ARINGO?
A: This is an amazing organization. My favorite part is meeting so many incredible applicants.
Q: What’s your favorite ARINGO client story?
A:, I recently worked with a client who left her home country to live in the US at 14 years old. She has built an incredible career here. I was amazed at her accomplishments, but also with her wisdom and humility.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Iceland. If the pictures are that beautiful, can you imagine what it must be like in real life?
Q: What’s the biggest mistake you could make on your application?
A: Spelling and grammatical errors. Spell Check is not enough. Have someone else proofread your application, twice! I am a big fan of the book, “The Elements of Style” by Strunk and White. It is a smaller book, yet has great information on proper grammar and spelling
Thank you Pamela!
