MIT Sloan LGO Program

MIT LGO is an engineering MBA dual degree program. MIT’s Leaders for Global Operations program brings together the rigor and technical expertise of the MIT School of Engineering, the business, leadership practice, and cutting-edge theory of the MIT Sloan School of Management and the real-world experience of the LGO manufacturing and operations industry partners. LGO students receive two degrees in two years: either an MBA or a Master of Science in Management degree from MIT Sloan School of Management, and a Master of Science degree from one of seven participating departments in the School of Engineering.

The program begins in June and accepts 45-50 students each year. The 2021 class profile includes 45 students with 5 years work experience on average, 62% men and 38% women. Average GMAT score is 736 and average GPA is 3.7.

Online application, including:

– CV (up to 1 page / 50 lines)

– 3 letters of recommendation

Application Process

All applications must be submitted online either through the MIT Sloan School or Management or through one of seven participating engineering departments within the MIT School of Engineering. The applications have different requirements, but the LGO review process is the same for all applications. Some students choose which school to apply through based on their interests and inclinations, or because they would like to be considered for that school or department in the event that they are not admitted to LGO. Some engineering departments—including Aeronautics and Astronautics, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science—will consider students not admitted to LGO for their master’s and/or Ph.D. program. All applicants who apply through MIT Sloan will be considered for the second round of MBA admissions if they are not admitted to LGO.
